Dr. Marx has chaired the JCR International Task Force, formulating the first international standards for hospitals and subsequently, a JCI standards subcommittee. He has been working with several European health care institutions testing and implementing JCI standards (hospitals and care continuum institutions).
Dr. Marx has also served as a senior lecturer in the Department
of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine, 3rd Medical Faculty, Charles University,
in
Prague , Czech Republic; a Vice Director (quality) at the University Hospital Prague 10; D irector General, at the Ministry of Health, Czech Republic; Country Coordinator (hospital accreditation) in the Czech Republic; and Advisor to the Committee on Consumer Protection, in the European Parliament. He also served on the Joint Commission Resources Board of Directors from 1998-2007.
Dr. Marx’s affiliations include chair of the Czech Society for Quality in Health Care, and he is a member of the International Society of Quality.
Dr. Marx’s academic interest focuses on adverse events prevention in health care and on general health care facilities safety. He graduated with his PhD in Public Health at Palacky University in Olomouc, Czech Republic and his doctor of medicine at Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic.
