Hyunok (Heidi) Kim Do has more than 40 years of experience in health care. She has held various positions throughout her career including medical surgical nurse, in-service educator, assistant professor, vice president of nursing and patient services and hospital administrator.
Dr. Do’s consulting expertise in rehabilitation hospitals, long term acute care hospitals and long term care facilities in the United States and internationally includes performance improvement approaches and measurement, survey process preparation, medication management, psychiatric hospitals, DMH survey and nursing leadership development. She has assisted organizations in preparing for Joint Commission and DPH surveys. Her consulting experience in Korea includes performance improvement, periodic performance evaluation and competence assessment, outcomes measurement, staffing effectiveness and nursing leadership development.
As a leader in nursing and clinical services at Whittier Health Network, she led a performance improvement team and has been responsible for all survey activities including Joint Commission, DPH, and CARF as well as other regulatory affairs.
From 2003-2005, Dr. Do worked for Severance Hospital in Seoul, Korea as the first vice president of nursing services. She implemented innovative but culturally sensitive approaches to patient care operations, nursing process improvement, performance improvement measurement, performance appraisal and team building. She speaks fluent Korean.
Dr. Do received her bachelor’s of science in nursing from Yonsei University, Seoul, Korea; her master’s of science in nursing from The Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio; and doctor of nursing science from Boston University, Boston, Massachusetts.
Her professional affiliations include Sigma Theta Tau; International Association of Rehabilitation Nurses; and Massachusetts Organization of Nurse Executives.
